Avry Gallant was the first Christmas baby to be born in Summerside at the Prince County Hospital to mom, Amy Gallant, and big sister, Sage.Avry was expected to arrive on Jan. 1, so Gallant and family thought they had time for a Christmas gathering near Summerside on Dec. 24, but plans changed. “I just got out of the car to go in and my water broke,” said Gallant. “We just went straight to the hospital.”Gallant’s contractions started overnight and at 12:49 p.m. Dec. 25, Avry made her first appearance, weighing eight pounds and 13 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.Later that day in Summerside, Jeremy Reeves and Venessa Lacombe welcomed Mackenzie Melissa Reeves right on time. Mackenzie was born at 7:23 p.m. and weighed seven pounds 14 ounces.
Avry and Mackenzie are just two of five babies born in P.E.I. Dec. 25. There was one more delivered at the Prince County Hospital and two babies were born in Charlottetown at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as well.
