The team will respond to deadly threats in Vancouver such as terror attacks.
Vancouver’s first responders have formed a new Rescue Taskforce to respond to active deadly threats, such as last week’s massacre at two mosques in New Zealand.
“There are enough events regionally and nationally that really call for this kind of preparedness, and that’s what really driving us right now,” said Eely, at a news conference in Vancouver on Friday. “By partnering and training with other emergency services personnel, we can ensure a more effective response that will help to keep victims alive by getting them medical treatment much faster.”
