PETALING JAYA: Action can be taken against those playing fireworks after midnight if it disrupts public peace, say police.
"Playing with fireworks must be done in an open space and it should not disrupt public peace," said Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Norsiah Mohd Saaduddin.
"Doing so past midnight can cause disruption or danger to others and that action can be taken under the Minor Offences Act 1955," she said in a statement. She advised individuals to not disturb the general public when playing with fireworks, especially by doing so at late hours. She said strict action could be taken if it was found that one had kept explosives to purposely damage property or cause harm.
