It was “a busy night” for firefighters called in to battle two blazes at about 1 a.m. Friday, Ottawa Fire Services said.

No one was hurt. A fire investigator was dispatched to determine the cause and the Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army were on hand to help, the fire department said. Meanwhile in Greely, crews doused a fire that engulfed a vacant building on Herberts Corners Road. Multiple 911 calls came in just before 1 a.m. reporting heavy black smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building. The fire was under control at 2:12 a.m. and out at 3:33 a.m.Advertisement 3The 2nd 🔥 on Preston St had heavy flames at the back of the structure upon arrival.
