A large bushfire burning in the state's Central West has grown to more than 5,000 hectares in size since breaking out on Sunday afternoon.
The blaze — at Watch and Act level — is set to worsen later todayThe out-of-control blaze at Alpha Road, Tambaroora is burning in isolated and rugged terrain near Hill End, about 80 kilometres north of Bathurst.
Rural Fire Service spokesperson Greg Allan said it was unclear how much destruction the fire had caused."But our building impact damage assessment teams will be on that fireground when it's safe to do so to take stock and see if there has been any further damage," he said. This morning, firefighters and crew with machinery are continuing work in the Lawlers Flat area to slow the spread of fire, which is still progressing to the east under westerly winds.
