A Sydney shopping complex and two blocks of units have been evacuated as more than 30 firefighters battle a blaze inside the roof of six adjoining shops and discover a major gas leak.
More than 30 firefighters and eight fire trucks attended Barrenjoey Road just after midday on Tuesday, after flames were discovered billowing from the roof cavity above six adjoining shops.
Fire crews entered the complex to tackle the blaze when they discovered the gas leak, the spokesperson said. "Wearing breathing apparatus and using thermal imaging cameras, FRNSW crews entered the building to locate and douse the fire," they said.
