The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait expressed deep sadness over the reported involvement of a Filipino domestic worker in the death of a Kuwait i child in her employer's household. Initial reports indicate that the unidentified Filipina maid allegedly placed the toddler inside a washing machine and turned it on in the family's home in Sabah Al-Salem because he was 'annoying' her.
The embassy stated that it provided assistance to the detained Filipino domestic worker, within the framework of Kuwaiti law and in accordance with the embassy's mandate. The embassy is collaborating with Kuwaiti authorities investigating the incident. This isolated case does not represent the character of Filipinos and the Filipino community in Kuwait, who are known for their hard work, reliability, and positive contributions to society. The embassy extended its condolences and prayers to the grieving family. The Filipino household worker allegedly confessed to killing the child out of frustration, stating that the child was disturbing her. The parents reportedly heard their child's cries and rushed to rescue him, but it was too late. The child was taken to Jaber Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Meanwhile, the embassy, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), conducted a Gender and Conflict Awareness Seminar for embassy personnel on November 21 to support the 18-day campaign to end violence against women, promoting gender sensitivity and understanding the impact of conflicts
