THE Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) said on Friday that it stands with the family of Marvil Facturan-Kocjani as they mourn the death of the Filipina who was allegedly killed by her Slovenia n husband.Facturan-Kocjani, 27, was allegedly murdered by her spouse, Mitja Kocjani, 30, while on vacation in the resort town of Bled on Dec. 29, 2024.The couple got married in July 2024.
'As we offer our thoughts and prayers with Marvil's family, we also stand in solidarity with them, condemning acts of domestic violence, seeking justice for our kababayan (compatriot), and honoring the beautiful life she lived,' the CFO said in a statement.The Filipino community in Germany has issued a statement extending condolences to the Facturan family.At the Senate, Sen. Imee Marcos expressed outrage over the murder of Facturan-Kocjani.'Marvil's murder serves as a stark reminder that we must continue to advocate for the protection and rights of individuals suffering from domestic violence and that our collective efforts must intensify to combat such injustices,' Marcos said.She called on concerned government agencies, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and the CFO, to ensure support and justice for the victim's family.The CFO urged overseas Filipinos experiencing any form of abuse to call its 1343 Actionline or contact the nearest Philippine Embassy or consulate for assistance
