BOXING,PEDRO TADURAN,IBF

Pedro Taduran wins the IBF minimumweight title against Ginjiro Shigeoka in Japan and is nominated for The Ring Magazine's Upset and Comeback of the Year awards.

Pedro Taduran , a Filipino boxer from Libon, Albay, has made a remarkable comeback in the boxing world. After losing his IBF minimumweight title in 2021 and 2022, Taduran reclaimed the belt in a stunning upset victory against Japanese boxer Ginjiro Shigeoka in July 2023. This victory has earned him nominations for The Ring Magazine's Upset of the Year and Comeback of the Year awards.

Taduran's impressive performance against Shigeoka, where he dominated the fight and secured a ninth-round stoppage, has propelled him back to the top of the boxing scene. He currently holds a 17-4-1 record with 13 knockouts and is awaiting his next challenger. The IBF has mandated a world title eliminator between Shigeoka and Filipino boxer Jeff Canoy, with the winner becoming Taduran's next opponent. Meanwhile, Taduran will also be honored as a Major Awardee at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards Night on January 27
