Rising table tennis star Kheith Rhynne Cruz won two bronze medals in the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender 2025 in San Francisco, California. The world's No. 33 ranked player placed third in the under-19 singles and the under-19 doubles division with Bosman Botha. Cruz made quick work of Nathalie Chan of Canada in the quarterfinals of the singles division, 11-8, 11-9 and 11-7.
However, she fell short in the semis against Tashiya Piyadasa of the United States in five sets, 11-8, 12-10, 10-12, 11-13 and 5-11. 'Every setback is a setup for a comeback, and falling short only fuels my determination. Thank you for the unwavering support from all over the world — it means everything! Time to get back to training, stronger, hungrier, and ready for more,' Cruz said in a Facebook post. Cruz previously took home the gold medal in under-19 girls doubles category with Irene Yeoh at the 2024 US Open Championships in Las Vegas on Dec. 16-21. The 17-year-old netter was first noticed internationally after dominating the same division of the international tournament in 2023. Her brother, Khevin Cruz is also on the quest to make his own name globally after bagging the silver medal in under-15 singles division in the WTT Youth Contender
