In order to play in the World Cup, nations have to qualify by advancing out of its region. There are a total of eight confederations, Asia , Africa , North and Central America and the Caribbean , South America , Oceanian and Europe . With the exception of Europe, there cannot be two teams from the same region in a group. The stadium will host a total of 10 games. The opening game of the tournament, featuring the host Qatar and Ecuador, will be held at the Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, which seats 60,000.
