Jason Sullivan, president of SEA-NL and Greg Pretty, a long-time FFAW executive member, will run for the presidency of FFAW-Unifor. File FFAW-Unifor headquarters on Hamilton Avenue, St. John's. - Telegram file photoA new president will be chosen Thursday, Jan. 5 to lead the Fish, Food and Allied Workers union, but Jason Sullivan’s name won’t be on the ballot.

In a news release Wednesday morning, Jan. 4, Sullivan stated he was notified by an email on Tuesday from Tina Parsons Pretty, chair of the FFAW election committee, that his nomination was rejected because he continues to serve as a director of FISH-NL.“Some of those South American countries must be drooling at the FFAW election process,” said Sullivan.

The province’s Registry of Deeds and Companies lists SeaChange FISH-NL Inc. as active, but not in good standing. The company’s last annual return was filed April 30, 2019. Spingle said, “Should any FFAW member have suggestions for future changes to the constitution, we would certainly welcome them to submit a resolution for debate at our next convention.”
