Heads up, MRT-3 commuters!

— MRT-3 said Thursday it will deploy fewer trains beginning Monday, July 6, as the number of depot workers who tested positive for coronavirus has risen to 92.

MRT-3 is already operating with less capacity due to the physical-distancing rule aimed at limiting both the staff and passenger's risk of exposure to COVID-19 or spreading the viral disease. "The extent of operating level reduction will be advised by Sumitomo over the weekend," Department of Transportation Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan said in a statement.

The train operator announced that after recording 25 confirmed cases among the depot personnel of the Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries last week, they logged an additional 67 infections on Wednesday.
