The 2024 edition of Manila's Fete de la Musique adopts the theme "For the people, by the people," featuring free performances, workshops, a French market and a network of pocket and destination stages across the Philippines, highlighting local talent and cultural exchange with France.

The upcoming Fete de la Musique in Manila is being presented under the banner "For the people, by the people," a mantra that puts the festival's audiences and creators at the heart of every activity.

Noe Fuentes, Cultural Manager of Alliance Française de Manille, explained to GMA News Online that the event is deliberately designed as a "community of communities," a collaborative effort that brings together musicians, cultural workers, entrepreneurs and listeners in a shared, people‑centred experience. While past editions of the festival have highlighted themes such as environmental awareness or sustainability, this year the emphasis returns to the original spirit of the worldwide Fête de la Musique - a celebration that belongs to everyone, with free and accessible performances that showcase local talent and strengthen the creative industry.

The program kicks off on 10 June with the revival of Music Heals, a series focused on sound‑based wellness and therapeutic listening. Specific venues and the detailed schedule remain to be announced, but the line‑up already includes several high‑profile acts. French pianist Maxime Zecchini will deliver two intimate concerts - the first at The Writer's Bar in Raffles Makati on 14 June, followed by a recital at the Alliance Française de Manille on 15 June.

On 19 June, the Asia‑France Music Bridge Workshops will convene emerging artists, cultural entrepreneurs and industry veterans from across Southeast Asia. French experts Gwendolenn Sharp and Leila Bellot will lead discussions on intellectual‑property rights and strategies for creative growth, providing practical guidance for the region's growing music ecosystem. Mid‑festival highlights include the Taste France French Market, scheduled for 20‑21 June along Paseo de Roxas, where visitors can sample authentic French cuisine, wines and artisanal products.

The main stage at the Ayala Triangle Gardens will host the headline Saturday concert on 20 June, featuring a blend of Filipino and French talent. Local favourites such as pop‑rock band Lola Amour, the avant‑garde jazz‑rock collective Radioactive Sago Project, hip‑hop outfit Morobeats and the Jewelmer Jazz Band will share the bill with French acts including kraut‑rock trio Meule and French‑Vietnamese harpist Héloïse La Harpe.

The festival will conclude on 29 June with a performance by Manila‑based jazz duo Project Yazz at the Long Bar in Raffles Makati, where they will reinterpret classic OPM songs through a jazz lens. Beyond the central events, Fete de la Musique continues its tradition of "pocket stages" - 23 smaller venues scattered throughout the National Capital Region on 26 June, offering everything from emo and indie to grunge, gothic experimental, P‑Pop and hip‑hop.

The celebration extends nationwide from 20 to 28 June, with 66 destination stages set up across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, reaching audiences in Zambales, Cagayan, Palawan, Siargao and many other provinces. This expansive rollout underscores the festival's commitment to making live music accessible to every corner of the Philippines, reinforcing the idea that music truly belongs to the people, by the people.
