The federal minister for International Development, Harjit S. Sajjan, announced the grant at a packed news conference at the storytelling centre on Pender Street.Article content Harjit S. Sajjan, right, minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada , is set to deliver details on funding being made to revitalize Vancouver’s historic Chinatown with, from left, Wilson Miao, Member of Parliament; Mayor Ken Sim; Carol Lee, chair, Vancouver Chinatown Foundation; and Vancouver Police Chief Adam Palmer.

“There’s some momentum, I think, there’s sort of a recognition that it is in an important neighbourhood that people care about,” said Carol Lee of the Chinatown Foundation. “Having all levels of government acknowledge that I think is a huge turning point for us.”
