Among her many distinctions, Greenwood is an officer of the Order of Canada, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for her work in early childhood education for Indigenous and non-Indigenous children, and received the Perry Shawna Leadership and Advocacy Award by the British Columbia Aboriginal Child Care Society in 2009, and the National Aboriginal Achievement Award for Education from the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation in 2011.  “Dr. Greenwood’s academic expertise, commitment to health and education, and dedication to the well-being of Indigenous communities will make her a strong voice for British Columbia,” said Trudeau in a press releas
