A five-vehicle collision on the North-South Expressway in Melaka claimed the lives of a family of five, including two young children. Muhammad Umar Khairul Ikhwan, 2, waved goodbye to his aunt and grandparents as they departed for home in Bandar Baru Bangi. Tragically, he was killed along with his parents, Khairul Ikhwan Mazupi and Fadzlenna Ramli, both 32, and his grandparents, Ramli Ab Wahab, 66, and Fauziah Jaafar, 69.
Muhammad Umar's elder brother, Muhammad Uwais Al-Qarni, 7, and sister, Nur Sofea Humaira, 4, are fighting for their lives at Melaka Hospital. A 66-year-old Singaporean passenger on the bus involved in the crash, Lamrah Asid Ali, also perished, along with the driver, Noorisnien Khamid, 56, from Skudai, Johor. The accident occurred at 8.45pm on Monday and caused a nearly 10km traffic jam on the North-South Expressway
