Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the aid would be for those below the food poverty line who could not earn an income for age and health reasons.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is to look into providing monthly cash assistance for families unable to earn a living because of their age or health, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said the council agreed that special monthly cash assistance would be considered to overcome the food poverty line for households unable to participate in income-generating activities due to age and health factors. “All agencies need to identify households which can participate in the programme in the remaining three months and be absorbed in other suitable programmes,” he said in a statement after the meeting.
