On top of weather-related delays, the airport authority said some flyers might be experiencing delays because of passenger volume, staffing, maintenance or because of connections from other airports. The Calgary airport’s flight schedule showed about a dozen cancellations and more than 30 delays on Monday.
WestJet said in a statement it apologizes to travellers who have been impacted by the cancellations due to the weather. While a warming trend is expected by the weekend, Environment Canada said extreme cold can be a danger to everyone.
