GOLDEN GIRLS: Australia's women's medley team have made a world record during the opening race of the FINA World Swimming Championships last night after claiming gold. 9News FULL STORY:

Gold medallists Emma McKeon, Chelsea Hodges, Mollie O'Callaghan and Madison Wilson celebrate during the medal ceremony.

"That is some start [to the session]. What a swim by Wilson, they were coming to get her everywhere but she kept fighting," Mat Thompson said in commentary for Nine. "Madi would have been seeing everyone alongside her. She would have had a very real knowledge of the fact that Michelle Coleman from Sweden and her were going stroke for stroke in the final five metres.

"Obviously Emma is amazing at so many different strokes so that was my first time anchoring a relay and I definitely felt the pressure. But I couldn't be happier with how it turned out."
