It is known for its lanzones fruit and historical significance as the landing site of Ferdinand Magellan in 1521 and Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in 1565. The first Spanish settlement was established on the island in 1598, and Camiguin became an independent province in 1966. Despite its size, the province offers a variety of natural, historical, and cultural attractions.
There are no direct flights from Manila to Camiguin, but travelers can fly to Cebu and take a connecting flight, or fly to Cagayan de Oro or Butuan and take a ferry from Balingoan Port. Camiguin is a year-round destination with rural charm and a different atmosphere compared to more developed areas in the Philippines
