Burnaby has finished work on a 3.5-kilometre rubberized track in Central Park.

Trail lovers in Burnaby can rejoice as the final section of the Central Park Perimeter Trail is now complete.The 3.5-kilometre circuit offers a "unique experience," with a rubberized track, lighting, tree cover and connections to the BC Parkway, according to a city press release.

The four-metre-wide trail is one of the longest rubberized tracks in Metro Vancouver, giving walkers and runners a comfortable fitness experience. Unlike traditional asphalt tracks, portions of the Central Park Perimeter Trail are designed with porous materials to allow water circulation to important tree root zones, according to the release.

The city invites community groups to host fundraising runs and walks on two trails in Central Park, both the Perimeter Trail and the Trail of Hope. The Central Park Perimeter Trail is now complete! This 3.5 km loop is one of the longest rubberized trails in the area. With plenty of tree cover and lighting along the route, the perimeter trail is an ideal place for a walk, run or bike ride.
