The government has recently unveiled a €1.2 billion package in Cost of Living assistance for social welfare recipients in the context of Budget 2024.
This includes a double child benefit payment that will be distributed to 1.2 million children, among other forms of support. Child Benefit will be extended to children aged 18 who are in full-time education from September 2024.This applies to all applicants regardless of nationality. If the child is not living with or being maintained by their parents, the person caring for the child may get Child Benefit.
