A Victorian survivor of abuse and sexual violence has spoken out after her former husband was sentenced over the horror she endured at his hands.
Michelle Skewes says she is relieved that her ex-husband, former White Ribbon ambassador Jon Seccull, has been jailed.
He is a former ambassador of White Ribbon Australia, an anti-violence campaign targeting abuse by men against women. In 2019 Seccull was committed to trial, but that was vacated when the Director of Public Prosecutions added more charges. Judge Dawes described Seccull's sexual and verbal violence as a "fundamental breach of trust" and said his conduct was "degrading and volatile".Ms Skewes, who was present for the sentencing in Ballarat, said she intended to move forward with her life."The support I have received from people near and far, from people I know and do not know, has been amazing."
