After spending a year behind bars, father of six Daniel Duggan, the ex-marine wanted by the United States for allegedly training Chinese fighter pilots overseas, will fight to vacate his extradition hearing.
It has been a year and two days since Mr Duggan was arrested in a supermarket car park in Orange, west of Sydney. The former US fighter pilot has been held in solitary confinement with minimal contact with family members. He was arrested after the US government accused him of arms trafficking by providing military training to Chinese pilots in South Africa between 2010 and 2012.
These allegations have not been tested in court and Mr Duggan denies all the charges – but faces up to 60 years in a US prison if found guilty.
