Evolving family needs demand more child-centric initiatives, says Wan Azizah

PETALING JAYA: Selangor have announced Katsuhito Kinoshi as the new coach, replacing Nidzam Jamil.

KUALA LUMPUR: More children-centric initiatives must be implemented to address the evolving needs of families and children, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail .

“Today, with most parents working, children are often cared for at day-care centres or by domestic helpers, as extended family support is no longer as accessible,” she said when launching the 2024 National Children’s Day celebration at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Sunday .She also called for the setting up of more day care centres to support working parents, while urging parents to remain actively involved in their children’s development.

“This is a time to mind not only your own affairs but also the welfare of others,” she said, encouraging parents and guardians to seek help when needed. Dr Wan Azizah also recognised the Health Ministry’s 1,000 Days of Childhood initiative, which focuses on ensuring proper nutrition for children during their critical early development phase.
