The two-vehicle collision closed off Dixon Road from Islington Avenue to Royal York Road and sent a man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A car crash late Saturday night in Etobicoke brought down three hydro poles and knocked out power for approximately 1,500 residents in the area into the early hours of Sunday.
Toronto police said in a tweet just before 11 p.m. Saturday that there was a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Royal York and Dixon Roads.Police did not immediately state if any injuries resulted from the crash but paramedics told the Star that a man was brought to a trauma centre in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Dixon Road remains closed as of 6:30 a.m. Sunday between McManus Road and Inchcliffe Crescent. Police said in a later tweet that Toronto Hydro anticipates the closure will last until Monday.As of 7:45 a.m. approximately 900 people remain without power, Toronto Hydro told the Star in an email statement.
“Unfortunately, due to the extensive damage, these repairs are involved and will take time to complete safely. Crews are making progress; however, customers should expect to be without power throughout part of the day,” a Toronto Hydro spokesperson said., power is expected to be restored to the area between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
