Ethiopian Max 8 suffered persistent nose-diving, report says

Ethiopian Federal policemen stand at the scene of the Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 302 plane crash, near the town of Bishoftu, southeast of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia March 11, 2019.Despite following all of Boeing’s recommended procedures, Ethiopian Airlines pilots were unable to prevent the “persistence” of “nose diving” by the Boeing Max 8 airplane that crashed and killed 157 people last month, according to newly released summaries of a preliminary investigation.

The preliminary report by investigators, the first official report on the crash, has not yet been publicly released, but brief summaries were provided for the first time by the Ethiopian government and the airline on Thursday morning. Ethiopian Airlines said the preliminary report “clearly showed” that the pilots had fully complied with the emergency procedures that had been recommended by Boeing and approved by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for handling “the most difficult emergency situation” on the Max 8 airplane.
