The resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s investigation into the anomalous flood control projects will be moved to Monday, June 8, Senator Erwin Tulfo said on Wednesday.
Tulfo, the new chair of the Senate panel, said this is to give the members the time to prepare and for the committee to review of the resource persons to be invited to the legislative inquiry.
“There will be a Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Monday. We are just moving the schedule date from tomorrow to prepare all members,” the senator told reporters in a press conference.
“I declare and I manifested, that all members of the Senate be in the majority and the new minority now, they are all members of the Blue Ribbon Committee. Para wala pong masabi na ika nga may hokus pokus ,” he said.
The day before, Senator Pia Cayetano said the Senate panel will resume its probe into the massive flood control scandal on Thursday, June 4, 2026.in the probe are former Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez, and the 18 individuals who claimed to be former personnel of the Philippine Marines who claimed to have delivered kickbacks to government officials.
Also invited is ex-assistant engineer Brice Hernandez of the Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office, who earlier implicated several lawmakers in the flood control mess.
“Now, pertaining to those invited resource persons, hindi po ako sang-ayon because we have to review these people. May sasabihin po ba talaga? Mayroon po ba ang i-didisclose? We have to review this,” said Tulfo.
Asked what will happen if the Cayetano-led panel will continue its probe, he said: “That’s illegal na po yung kanyang tomorrow.
”“We have already instructed the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, the Senate Secretary. Now, all seats vacant na po, di ba? We declared it. So, illegal na po yung gagawin niya because there’s already a new Blue Ribbon chairman,” he added.
However, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano said the Senate shakeup is meant to block the resumption of the Blue Ribbon Committee’s investigation on the flood control mess, adding that their probe will “But tomorrow, tuloy ang hearing ng Blue Ribbon Committee. I am still the legitimate, legal, and moral Senate President of the Republic of the Philippines, and there are still functioning committees. We have to hear the testimonies. Invited po pati yung mga gumawa ng ilegal ngayon,” he said.
