Football Australia said in a statement on Friday it was now focused on appointing a new head coach ahead of the second window of Round Three AFC Asian Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in October. Mr Johnson said Football Australia was"saddened" to see the 61-year-old leave the national set-up but added it was not uncommon in international football.
