Search continues for fisherman overboard off Nova Scotia
A search is underway for a fisherman who went overboard this morning off Cape Sable Island in Nova Scotia.
Lt. Commander Len Hickey says Halifax’s Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre received a mayday at 8:21 a.m. about a man who’d fallen off a 12-metre long fishing vessel about six nautical miles south of the island. A Cormorant helicopter and a Hercules aircraft were dispatched to search for the man alongside the Cape Roger and Clark’s Harbour coast guard ships.He says the CCGS Cape Roger remains in the area with a plane from PAL Airlines to keep searching through the night.Hickey says ocean conditions in the area are moderate, with 46-kilometre-an-hour winds and four-metre high waves
