“Obviously, it’s a big honour,” Lindholm said. “Now, we’ll see what’s going to happen, but it’s definitely an honour. I’ve been around for quite a long time now so it’s always good to be one of those guys that get trusted and even if I’m not the most vocal guy in the locker-room, I try to do it on the ice and lead the way there.”

Mikael Backlund and Chris Tanev will need some company in the letter-wearing crew and there is no shortage of candidates, a very good problem to have. Rasmus Andersson, Blake Coleman, Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri, Milan Lucic and others had a turn with an ‘A’ in exhibition action. Calgary Flames Elias Lindholm scores on Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson in second period NHL action at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.“On the ice, I just try to do the right things and play the right way out there,” Lindholm said. “Whatever it is — to block shots, to backcheck or hit a guy or score a goal or something like that … It doesn’t really matter for me. It’s just try to help the team in any sort of way.
