B.C. Housing says failed elevator will be replaced

“This has led to a nightmare situation for residents, who are now forced to scale the stairs any way they can in order to access their rooms,” Ger said. She said that several other residents with mobility issues or other health concerns were offered alternate accommodation and “refused it/turned it down/returned to the Portland.”
“We have been consistently engaging the elevator company to attend, order parts, and install when they arrive – global supply chain is still at play here – as well as working with to secure professional consultant assessments and funding for complete elevator replacement, a process in which, B.C. Housing has been extremely responsive and responsible.”
“We further request that the elevator be replaced or repaired immediately, regardless of cost,” the letter read.In a statement, B.C. Housing said replacement parts for the elevator had arrived this month.
