In a tweet Tuesday, the TTC said the issue appears to be “electrical in nature with arcing causing bright flashes.” The fire started shortly after 10 a.m. on the Yonge-University line southbound tracks from an electrical control box, a TTC spokesperson told the Star.The transit agency says service on Line 1 is turning back at College Street and St Clair Avenue, and 35 shuttle buses have been ordered.
Trains on Line 2 are bypassing the station at Bloor-Yonge as emergency crews continue to investigate the incident.Toronto Fire said the flames had been extinguished, and the smoke on the tunnel had been cleared out.
