The results of supervision and monitoring carried out by the Air Pollution Control Task Force over the past few days show that eight companies have strong indications of being a source of air pollution.

The development of the monitoring and surveillance results was conveyed by the Chief of the Air Pollution Control Task Force who is also the Director General of Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry , Rasio Ridho Sani, in a press conference at the KLHK Media Center in Jakarta on Wednesday .
During the two days of assignment, the task force carried out activities in several locations, namely Marunda , Cakung , Kelapa Gading , Pulogadung , Bekasi, Bogor and Karawang. Supervision was carried out at eight companies with coal stockpile activities , smelting, pulp and paper, and cement. The eight companies are PT WSR, PT UMP, PT MBS, PT MS, PT IVS, PT PD3, PT AK, and PT JSI.
“If the team finds a violation, several steps will be taken. If the violation is serious, we will stop its business activities. We have terminated one company with stockpile activities in Cakung," he said.In addition, another action is to apply administrative sanctions to companies that are sources of air pollution. The next step could be to impose criminal or civil lawsuits against the company due to the serious impact it has on the environment and public health.
"We will continue to carry out emission testing activities until next week for the internal KLHK and the public. Then we will serve other ministries and institutions to ensure that the vehicles in their parking areas have passed the emission test," he said.Another effort to tackle air pollution, according to Sigit, is by implementing weather modification technology to induce artificial rain.
