The problem, as Armstrong and his neighbours see it, is that noise limits aren’t being enforced — and even if they were, already exceed levels that can contribute to health problems.

Noise complaints continued to rise, doubling between 2015 and 2021. They will likely top 20,000 this year, with amplified noise accounting for more than half.It goes without saying that a bylaw unenforced is hardly worth the bother, and that excess noise is a health issue rather than a mere lifestyle nuisance.
