It’s well known now that the RCMP’s response was disorganized. There were problems with tactics, containment procedures, treatment of some of the victims’ families and critical breakdowns in communications, both internally and with the public. That includes the failure to issue a timely alert to the public that the gunman was driving a replica RCMP cruiser. It’s hard not to think that a better response could have saved lives.
Lucki replied that she didn’t know what, if any changes had been made, adding that she’s “looking at things at the 10,000-foot level” and “at my level, I don’t go down in the weeds.”
