World Athletics has injected a voice of reason into the thorny issue of transgender athletes competing in elite sports events.

“We will be guided in this by the science around physical performance and male advantage which will inevitably develop over the coming years.” The biological differences between men and women are undeniable. A person who’s gone through male puberty has physical advantages in size and musculature over a person who was born female. It’s why genders compete separately. And women were once forbidden from competing in certain Olympic sports.
