With great natural resource wealth, a very strategic geoeconomic position at the heart of global supply chains, and a demographic bonus in 2023-2035, the Indonesian people should be able to achieve high economic growth.
KOMPAS/HERYUNANTOThe entire people of Indonesia long for the realization of a prosperous, just, prosperous, and sovereign nation.
According to the World Bank , a country is categorized as upper middle-income if its GNI per capita ranges between 4,466 US dollars and 13,845 US dollars. Meanwhile, a wealthy country is one with a GNI per capita above 13,854 US dollars. However, from an economic perspective, the most important thing is that the Indonesian people must be able to generate high, an average of 6 percent per year in the 2024-2029 period, then an average of 8 percent per year in 2030-2035, and an average of 7 percent per year in 2036-2045.
Indeed, the percentage of the population working in the agricultural sector has declined. However, the good news is that the surplus of labor from the agricultural sector can mostly be absorbed by the manufacturing industry sector , and the rest by the service sector , including trade, tourism, creative economy, financial services, construction, and transportation.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia in 2022, the agricultural sector still absorbed around 38 percent of the workforce, with a contribution to the GDP of only 12.4 percent . It is not surprising that the majority of our farmers and fishermen are still poor. Mining and excavation absorb around 10 percent of the workforce and contribute 12.2 percent to the GDP.
What must be ensured is that the profits from this downstream are mostly for the state and the welfare of the Indonesian people, not for foreign companies and state officials who can get the golden share. The modernization of agriculture and its downstream processing also provides added value, creating millions of new job opportunities, and has a very significant multiplier effect.
