The event has since been cancelled due to hurricane Fiona’s expected impact in P.E.I. this weekend. -Dave Stewart/The GuardianCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Tim Chaisson and Jake Charron have decided to continue as the East Pointers following the death of bandmate Koady Chaisson this past January.featuring music they recorded with Koady.

Jake said Koady was excited about the new material, so it only felt like a natural first step in the band’s evolution into a world without him.“It’s just him playing the tenor guitar on an instrumental track called House of Dreams, which is actually the title of the whole EP,’’ said Tim Chaisson, who is Koady’s first cousin.

“We reached out a couple of months ago after Pastelle had passed away,’’ Tim said, referring to one of the members of Vishtèn who died this year. “We really needed to get together and play some music for all of us. It was part of the healing process, and it was so much fun.’’Tim added that jamming with Vishtèn and releasing the new songs have all been little steps in a journey for the band this year.

“Putting this music out and working on the festival has kept our spirits high,’’ Tim said in the interview Sept. 16.
