Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has urged Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to address the 'threat to people of Jewish faith' in Australia, after pro-Palestine protests in Sydney on Monday appeared to celebrate Hamas' horrific attack on Israel.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has called on Anthony Albanese to convene an urgent meeting of the national security committee of cabinet and urged the Prime Minister to do more to reassure Australia's Jewish community in the aftermath of"terrible" protests in Sydney on Monday night.
Mr Dutton added New South Wales Police should have done"a lot more" to prevent the protest from taking place, saying authorities had"answers to provide" as to why it was allowed to go ahead. Following the protests, Mr Dutton claimed he was hearing stories about Jewish families in Australia who were taking steps to hide their religious affiliation in public, as he called upon the Prime Minister to address the issue.
