President Duterte said he will ask Congress and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) about the alleged P35.2 billion worth of pork barrel of senators and congressmen embedded in the proposed P4.1-trillion 2020 national budget.

Duterte made the statement following reports that the DBM had asked lawmakers last month to submit their list of projects for their districts and constituency.

“I have not heard of it. When we come to the liaison between the Congress and the Executive Department we’ll bring this up,” he said. According to reports, every member of the House of Representatives is allocated P100 million. Of this, P70 million is for “hard” or infrastructure projects while the remaining is for “soft” programs like medical and educational assistance.
