Nagpaabot ng tulong-pinansiyal si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pamilya ng mga biktima ng trahedya sa karagatan sa bahagi ng Iloilo Strait noong Sabado.
Bakas sa mukha ng pangulo ang labis na kalungkutan habang pinapakinggan ang naging karanasan ni Ma. Nieves Grandeza, isa sa mga nakaligtas sa paglubog ng MB Jenny Vince.
Siyam na kamag-anak ng kasintahan ni Grandeza ang nasawi sa insidente, kasama na ang 3 anyos nilang anak.Ayon kay Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Neneth Pador, maliban sa P50,000 na ibinigay ng ahensiya sa mga biktima, nag-abot rin ng dalawang sobre sina Duterte at Go sa mga pamilya ng mga biktima.
Nakatanggap rin ng cellphone ang bawat miyembro ng mga pamilya. May mga bata ring nakatanggap ng sapatos mula kay Go.Ayon naman kay Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, hindi pa napapag-usapan ang proyektong pagpapagawa ng tulay na magdudugtong sa Iloilo at Guimaras. Mas tinutukan umano ng pangulo ang pagdadagdag ng air and water assets para mas mapabuti ang rescue operations at maaasahang magagamit rin ang mga ito sa panahon ng kalamidad at iba pang kagipitan.
