Defining the News
The Department of Trade and Industry has padlocked an unlicensed warehouse in Valenzuela City and seized some P7.8 million worth of uncertified household appliances.
The raid on the warehouse was conducted in collaboration with the Valenzuela City Business Permit and Licensing Office. The DTI found out that the warehouse, owned by Ibenson Trading Corp., was operating without a valid business permit.“The DTI will not hesitate to take decisive action to protect consumers and uphold fair trade,” Pascual said, citing the agency’s unwavering commitment to enforce the law and holding accountable the people behind illegal business operations.
The seized products, including induction cookers, electric kettles, electric fans, and washing machines, lacked the mandatory Philippine Standard mark and Import Commodity Clearance sticker, indicating a clear violation of consumer protection laws. The enforcement operation in Valenzuela was part of the DTI’s intensified nationwide crackdown on uncertified products.
