Aware of the life-long implications of early pregnancy on the well-being of young people, the Department of Social Welfare and Development underscored the need for stronger initiatives to address tee
nage pregnancy in the country.
The said initiative, launched in 2020, was made possible through DSWD’s Social Technology Bureau as its response to address teenage pregnancy in the country. The project components, DSWD said, include online psychological support; family life enrichment sessions, and direct assistance and referral services – which was conducted either online or face-to-face.
“Through Teen Support, it is envisioned that young parents are able to prevent future unplanned and repeated pregnancies; cope with the demands of parenting, and perform their social roles both as teenagers and parents,” DSWD said.
