Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner wants the state government to decide whether Brisbane’s water should be supplemented by a new dam, desalination plant or recycling.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has called on the state government to decide how it will supplement the city’s water supply amid warnings of a “dry summer”.
Schrinner said it was time for the government to “urgently address the precarious predicament of Brisbane’s water supplies”. A previous Labor government abandoned plans for a new dam in the south-east, however there has been speculation of a new desalination plant on the Sunshine Coast and recycled water remains an option for any government willing to“If the state government continues its approach of not doing a damn thing, our region will be left even more at risk of running dry,” Schrinner said.
