SYDNEY, N.S. – When it comes to the top goal scorers in the country in the men’s university soccer conference, you don’t have to look too far down the page to see Owen Sheppard’s name.
“As a kid, playing soccer it was always scoring, scoring, scoring, so I guess things don’t change with age,” laughed Sheppard. “I feel like there’s no better feeling than scoring a goal and helping the team as much as possible and that’s always how I’ve looked at it.” Sheppard found his passion for the sport while in Alberta and played there for 10 years, both at the house and rep levels, before the family moved back to Newfoundland and Labrador.
Throughout the process, Sheppard played for Newfoundland and Labrador’s provincial teams as well as club teams, which would attend national tournaments. He also attended the Vancouver Whitecaps national combine.
