Toronto police say a driver flipped their vehicle Monday morning in a busy downtown area while allegedly trying to avoid hitting something on the road.

In the process of trying to “avoid something on the road” the car hit a parked vehicle, causing it to flip, Toronto police media relations officer Shannon Eames told the Star.Area roads were closed following the incident but have since reopened.that the driver was trying to avoid hitting a raccoon, police told the Star they could not confirm that the driver was trying to avoid an animal, and if so if the animal was a raccoon.

“All the initial information provided is always reported to police. It was reported by the driver that he was avoiding the animal at the time of the incident,” said Eames.
