A driver has been charged and a passenger identified after an alleged high-speed fatal car rollover on a major Victorian highway. Three people were in the silver 2009 Jeep Wrangler when it left the road on South Gippsland Hwy and rolled just near Baxter-Tooradin Rd, Tooradin, southeast of Melbourne , just after 8.30pm on Saturday. The 38-year-old male driver and a 34-year-old male passenger were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the other passenger who died in the crash remained a mystery, with police saying he had a distinctive tattoo of an eagle and was wearing a beaded red and yellow wristband. By Tuesday police had identified him as a 32-year-old Dandenong man. The driver, from Clyde North, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death. He fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was bailed to appear again on December 9.
