A worker at Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld has been attacked by a tiger. The woman in her 40s, who works as a handler, was left with deep lacerations to her arm and shoulder from being mauled at the Coomera property about 9am on Monday. Queensland Ambulance Service said the woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital. She is reported to be in a stable condition.

Dreamworld is home to the Tiger Island attraction, occupied by nine tigers of the Sumatran and Bengal species. “Dreamworld acknowledges an incident that occurred involving one of the park’s tigers and a trained tiger handler,” theme park operators said in a statement. “The handler sustained injuries to their arm and was attended to by Queensland Ambulance Service. “Dreamworld’s immediate focus is on the support of the team member.
